At CMSFQ we know that our high school students are looking for something more. Glance at this sample course description from our English department and see for yourself how we strive to meet that request…
“Welcome to 10 th Grade Western Literature! This is far more than just a literature class. English is an exploration of language, society, art, human issues and problems, self-discovery and the big questions that have forever perplexed and driven the human race. Each generation needs to look at these things for themselves – to discover on their own what they believe is right and wrong, who they are and how they define themselves. And we will do just that, exploring not only fascinating stories and culture of times past, but delving into just who we are and how the past and the present have helped define us. This year you can expect to read not only traditional European literature, such as the strutting heroes of Greek mythology and the magical tales of King Arthur’s court, but also modern stories and thought that spring from the Western traditions.” |
